Grace City Church Tokyo is a church plant in the heart of Tokyo, within walking distance of Tokyo Station. We officially began worship on Pentecost Sunday on May 2010 in Ginza until moving to a larger location in Otemachi. Rev. Makoto Fukuda leads this church planting team to be a new community called to glorify God by loving and serving the city. We focus on business professionals and answering their struggles from a gospel-centered perspective, such as the meaning of work, stewardship, rest, and relationships.

“Together we seek to serve and renew society. We believe that the gospel not only renews people’s lives, but that it also affects culture and cities. As Jesus became incarnate and lived among us, we share our lives with others, sharing from the grace that God gives us. By his mercy, the church offers a truly living and restful community in the middle of a bustling city.” (Rev. Fukuda)

Besides Sunday worship services, small groups, and special outreach events, Grace City provides opportunities for growth, pastoral care, fellowship, teaching, and evangelism. It was the first church of the Grace Network, a movement of new churches being planted throughout the Tokyo area, where many new pastors receive training and vision for the city. Redeemer City to City in New York assists the team through coaching.

“A new community in Tokyo called to glorify God by loving and serving the city.”

LOCATION

Grace City Church Tokyo focuses on the Southeast part of Central Tokyo, including the area around Tokyo Station, the international financial district of Marunouchi, the political center of Kasumigaseki, the media center around Shiodome, and the residential redevelopment along Tokyo Bay in the direction of Shinagawa.

FINANCES

Grace City Church Tokyo seeks to make an everlasting impact for the kingdom of God. We believe the good news that Jesus, the Son of God, came to earth to offer salvation through his perfect life, died on a cross for our sin, and rose again. Grace City uses funds for rental facilities, salaries, and other expenses in order to share this good news in Tokyo. The high costs of living in Tokyo make church planting a challenge, but we depend on God to provide the funds necessary for ministry in Tokyo.

“Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal.”  Matthew 6:19
